From the in-house line of chic Parisian store Anatomica, comes the 618 Original jeans - named in reference to the beauty and harmony of the golden ratio. Produced in Japan, the 618 is a slim, tapered fit in deep raw indigo. Most interestingly, the jeans do not have an outside seam - a detail said to have been inspired by old army pants. Available for around ¥29,000 from Zozo.

While I’ve felt indifferent to many of the denim/workwear labels flooding the market recently, a new line out of Paris has caught my eye. Bleu De Paname (“Panama Blue”) has launched their debut men’s line for SS09, a small all-blue, no-fuss collection of jeans, shirts and jackets. All the clothing is hand-made in France and appears both well detailed and priced, although I’ll have to reserve final judgement until I can view them all in person.

It’s always good to see a product with a story behind it. While not uncommon for some designers to re-use excess fabric (often repurposed for accessories lines), Japanese denim doyens Sugarcane have taken this idea one step further. The Recycled Denim Sweet Jeans are a raw straight leg cut, produced used discarded fabric remnants from the company’s production floor, which were then recycled, respun and combined with new yarn to produce a unique, deep indigo color. Now available (in limited supply) for US$320 from Self Edge.

Great jacket from the oft’ overlooked Australian label, Rittenhouse. They nailed all the details - fully lined, elastic hood & cuffs, patch pockets - plus, I’d love to see how this will wear in over time. Get it for AUD$485 from their online shop.
